TURKISH KEBAB MEAL

SALAAMZ LADIES , 

Inspired by the Turkish kebab place in Fordsburg , church street . I decided why not make a Turkish supper using some of their good side dish ideas .

Lets get started with the kebab , this is my own kebab recipe .

KEBABS

1/2 kg beef mince

1/2 kg steak mince

1 tbsl crushed garlic

1/2 tsp ginger

1 tsp ground green chillies ( depends how strong you eat )

1 tsp Robertson chicken spice

2 tbls Robertson BBQ spice

1/4 tsp haldi

1 tsp dhania powder

1/2 black pepper

1/2 tsp lemon pepper

salt to taste

handful fresh dhania washed And chopped

METHOD : 

In a bowl add both the mince and all the ingredients , now smear whole lot of oil on your hands and mix the mince nicely .

Make sure you mixed well .

Leave to marinate for 2 hours or over night .

IN THRE MEANTIME YOU CAN PREPARE THE SIDES !

COOK :

Using your hand ( make sure you have oil on your hand before making every single ball ) make good size balls and on a sosatie stick , poke kebab it and start sticking it to stick ( I used ice cream sticks , as I didn’t have sosatie sticks ) .

in a pan with big chillies and oil steam for about 5 to 6 minutes .

Now out all the kebabs on a griller and grill for 5 to 7 minutes . ( optional ) you can just steam on stove in a pan with oil until done , if you do not have a griller .

Add all these kebabs back to the pan with oil .

Cook for another 5 minutes on slow just before serving .

TOMATO CHUTNEY :

3 to 4 tomatoes

salt to taste

1/2 tsp pepper

Balsamic vinegar

1 tbsl lemon juice

METHOD : Wash , cut and grate the tomatoes .

In a small pot add the grated tomatoes with salt And pepper . Cook for about 5 minutes

Before serving add balsamic vinegar and the bottom on bowl pour the tomatoes over and add the 1 tbsl lemon juice on top .

TZATZIKI :

1/4  cucumber chopped

1 small tub plain Greek yogurt

salt

mint leaves , fine jeeru , handful fresh dhania

METHOD : 

Lay the chopped cucumber on a kitchen towel paper to soak out the water .

In a machine grind together handful mint , dhania fine jeeru and salt with 1/4 tub of yogurt .

Now add that mixture to a bowl with remaining yogurt and add cucumbers .

NOW TO SERVE : 

In two small bowls or plates , plate your TZATZIKI and TOMATO CHUTNEY .

Cut a fresh lemon .

Cut PITA BREAD into halves .

layer the KEBABS and chillies .

Additional information – HUMMUS would be Devine as well .
